2. Creativity at the Speed of Thought
"Man is a genius when he is dreaming." Akira Kurosawa
There are things that people can do well but don’t want to do – vacuuming. Things people can do well but sometimes make errors – driving. Things people are not good at – detecting complex patterns in data or making predictions. AI is already helping us in all the above situations.
Now it’s time for AI to help us with our most prized capabilities: synthesis and creativity. Our ability to dream. This is where Generative AI comes in.
The late Clayton Christensen said, “Infrastructure is the most efficient mechanism through which a society stores or distributes value.”
Emad Mostaque took it further, “[Generative] AI is the infrastructure for the next generation of human thought.” Wow.
Avatar: The Way of Water took a quarter billion dollars and five years to make. It’s a masterpiece and making good money. Well done! We also need more Blair Witch Projects and Junos. We need to extract the wonderful stories (real or imagined) from all of us.
At an ocean depth of 10 meters, you’ll find Atlantic Salmon, Striped Bass and Manatee. But what about the Hadal Amphipod at an unfathomable 10,000 meters? What about all the stories hidden in the unfathomable depths of humanity? Generative AI will help us unlock those. It will enable creativity at the speed of thought.
